I am the fence being sat on...
Best in the world
So the US got knocked out of the World Cup...sad, but our team wasn't that great. They had a chance and they couldn't even take advantage of it. Funny how we don't have much pride in international competition...we don't even send our best teams into some of the world competitions...look at what happened in the World Baseball Classic, the Olympics, and even the World Basketball Championships...we got bounced. Not even OUR best athletes WANT to participate in these events. It's frickin sad. And yet, the NBA champs are the "WORLD" champs? Same with baseball...it's ridiculous. I'd like to see us actually win a world championship before we claim to be one.
reunions
I was chatting w/ someone from my class just today. We were talking about how we both couldn't go to our 10 year reunion and I was saying I wasn't really planning to go anyway. During our conversation, I said something like "I'm not even friends w/ anyone from our class anymore" and he responded with, "We're still friends, we've just lost touch." Then it hit me...My mindset about my 10-year highschool reunion has been all wrong all along. I didn't want to go because I hadn't really kept in touch with anyone from my high school since I left for college. I didn't think there was any point in it since I was not vested in any relationships circa 1992-1996. But the whole point of a reunion is to see people you haven't seen in forever. To give me the opportunity to get BACK in touch with everyone. For example: Family reunions...you meet some people for the FIRST time! Kids and grandkids, spouses, etc. Man, I was all wrong. I'm totally curious to see which paths everyone has walked throughout the last decade. What successes we have accomplished, and to mourn the loss of the early passing of some of our old friends. Now, I can't go to the reunion still, because beeb and I are going out of town...but had I not had other plans, I would've gone. Hopefully, I'll be there for the 15 and 20...because I'll definitely have a reason to go.
